TRANSPORTATION

WEDDING SHUTTLE

A shuttle will be provided to take guests to and from the ceremony and the reception. The shuttle will only leave from and return to one of the wedding hotels - The Fairfax at Embassy Row. Guests staying at The Embassy Row hotel will need to catch the shuttle at The Fairfax, which is located on the opposite corner from The Embassy Row Hotel. See below for a map of hotels and shuttle location.

We don't want our guests to have to worry about driving in traffic or public transit issues on the way to the ceremony, and we want to encourage everyone to have a good time at the reception without having to worry about how to safely get home, so we will be providing shuttle service to and from the venue on our wedding day.

Details on shuttle times to the wedding venue will be provided nearer to the wedding date. Guests who miss the shuttle to the venue can ask the hotel to call a cab, order an uber, or should be able to easily catch a cab off of Massachusetts Avenue in front of the hotel.

For departing the reception, the shuttle will leave from the venue, McLean Gardens Ballroom. The reception has to end promptly at 11pm, and the last shuttle will leave no later than 11:05pm. Further details on shuttle times to be provided nearer to the wedding date. Guests who miss the last shuttle can order an Uber or can easily catch a cab on Wisconsion Avenue, next to the venue.

AIRPORTS

Reagan National Airport (DCA) is the most convenient DC area airport to fly in and out of. DCA is located in Arlington, Virginia, off of the blue or yellow metro line, both of which give you access to the city. Other nearby airports include Baltimore-Washington International airport (BWI) and Dulles International aiport (IAD). BWI is accessible via the commuter train (MARC train) to Union Station in DC, where you can connect with the red line metro. IAD is only accessible via car or bus, which connects to the blue/orange/silver line of the metro in northern Virginia.

METRO

We encourage you to use the metro to get around while in DC. The DC metro system is small and fairly easy to navigate.

In order to ride the metro, you will need to purchase a plastic SmartTrip card. You can pick up one of these handy plastic metro cards from automated kiosks in any metro station or at CVS stores. The cards cost $2, but provide discounted fares and are easily reloadable. These work on the metro trains and also on metrobuses.

Please note that weekend metro service is slower than weekday service and the metro is under going extensive maintanence work that may cause additional delays. For the weekend of October 15th, the following work service disruptions have been announced. Neither of these directly affect stations closest to the wedding hotel or venue. You can view metro updates and service alerts on their website at http://wmata.com.
* Orange line - Continuous single-tracking from West Falls Church to Vienna
* Red line - Entire shutdown from NoMa to Fort Totten

Follow these tips to look like a seasoned metro pro:   :-)
1. On metro escalators (those entering, leaving, and within stations), stand on the RIGHT and walk on the LEFT.
2. There's no drinking or eating on the metro (this is why stations and trains are actually pretty clean).
3. The doors on a metro car are not like elevator doors; they will NOT open if you stick your arm, leg, bag, or anything in between them if they are closing. The doors will close on whatever is in their way, so please be aware and do not attempt to jump through closing doors or hold the door for someone.
4. Download an app to your phone to help you navigate the metro - including trip planning and real time train arrival information. We use the DC Metro Transit app from Google Play. If you have an iPhone, try the iCommute app.

TAXIS/UBER

DC Taxi Cabs: Airports and train stations (like Union Station) have dedicated taxi lines, as does the wedding hotel (ask at the front desk). From nearly anywhere in the city, you should also be able to flag a taxi on the street. DC taxi cabs are red with a grey stripe on the side. The sign on top of DC taxis is intended to let you know if the taxi is available for service. Look for a cab that reads "TAXI FOR HIRE" and you should be able to flag it for a ride. All DC taxis are equipped to take credit cards.

Uber is a car pick-up service that operates anywhere in and outside of the city (including the airports). Just download the app and you can request a car to pick you up at any location. Plus, since the app bills directly to your credit card, no need to worry about cash for the ride or tipping. Download the app from Google Play or the Apple Store.

PARKING

Please note, there is NO parking at the wedding venue. We strongly encourage you to take the shuttle from the wedding hotel or use a taxi or uber to travel to and from the ceremony and reception (see information above).

For those who need to drive, there is a parking garage attached to the Giant supermarket .

Giant is two blocks away from the wedding venue - about a 5 minute walk. The parking garage entrance is off of Newark St. Cars should be able to stop briefly in front of the venue to let out or pick up guests if needed.

For information on parking at the wedding hotel, please see the Accommodations page.
